Delta Zeta dominates, "The Greatest Homecoming on Earth"
Delta Zetas were not shy about screaming at the top of their lungs when the winners of UCO Homecoming 2008 were announced. The Team 3 float which consisted of an elephant, a circus tent and a working ferris wheel, won first place in the UCO competition. Team 3 consisted of the ladies of Delta Zeta and gentlemen of Sigma Nu and Acacia. The entire team walked in the parade singing the UCO fight song and encouraging the crowd with UCO chants. The overall winners of Homecoming were announced and Team 3 came in second place! The ladies of Delta Zeta worked hard all week and it definitely paid off! Here is where Delta Zeta placed in the rest of Homecoming!

Delta Zeta begins Homecoming Week with a victory in LAFF Olympics!
The ladies of Delta Zeta at UCO kicked off the first day of Homecoming by coming in first place at the humorous obstacle event titled, the LAFF Olympics. Six members, in relay, put on a frozen t-shirt and ran through pounds of mustard, jumped in swimming pools, and caught flying cupcakes in their mouths, ending with the fastest timing of all other teams. The rest of the chapter was in attendance to cheer the ladies to victory. This was one of the first events of UCO's Homecoming 2008 which is themed, "The Greatest Homecoming on Earth". The other event, window painting, began at 4:30pm on Sunday and Delta Zeta was assigned to the east side of the Nigh University Center. The artists among DZ already had elephants, clowns and a big world adorned on the buidling in a few short hours. The winners of the window painting competition will be announced later in the week.

Delta Zeta won Shack-A-Thon and helped raise $3,000 for Poverty Awareness Week!
About twenty teams slept in tents for 5 days right during the first week of UCO's Poverty Awareness Week and Delta Zeta's raised the most money--for a good cause! Rain, cold weather and withering homemade tents did not detour the "Turtles" Delta Zeta team from participating in UCO's Poverty Awareness Week event called, "Shak-A-Thon". Twenty Delta Zetas participated on two different teams. They painted their tents pink and green and at night, they adorned their tents with tarps to protect from the cold. Although some nights were rough, socializing with the other teams and building sisterhood were the highlights of Shak-A-Thon! The proceeds from the event went to The Infant Crisis Center.

Freshman Queen 2008 Elizabeth Le! We took this week seriously and had serious fun campaigning for Elizabeth Le (pictured with flowers and crown in the center), who was initiated Fall 2007. You could not walk a step at UCO without seeing her name on the sidewalk and every bulletin board had her face on it! Not to mention Elizabeth has been involved in UCOSA, WinterGlow exec, and Emerging Leaders--only to name a few. She also serves as this year's Delta Zeta Greek Week Chair. The winners were announced at the UCO vs. SWOSU basketball game Wednesday, February 7th. Congratulations on the deserved win! We love you "Bitty"!

Delta Zeta "Eddie" Wins Miss UCO! Last night at Mitchell Hall Theatre, Ashley "Eddie" Edwards (pictured in the center) was crowned Miss UCO 2008! Eddie did a wonderful job displaying her talent and confidence. In the onstage interview, she had quick answers and made the crowd laugh. One question was, "What do you think about the law that would restrict teenagers of the number of passengers in their car" and Eddie agreed with the law saying that when she was a teenager she would blare the music thinking she was, "too cool for school". Eddie has competed in more than 30 pageants but this is the first she has ever won. She will compete in Miss Oklahoma in June! Congratulations!

Miss UCO Contestant! Ashley "Eddie" Edwards will be a contestant in the Miss UCO pageant this Saturday. Her platform is D.R.I.V.E. Heaven Can Wait and her talent will be a lyrical dance to "Dear Friend". Eddie has had alot of success in pageants lately winning first runner up in Miss Bricktown OKC, and second runner up in Miss Eastern OKC and Miss Piedmont. The girls wish her the best of luck and will be there to cheer for her!
